Description

U.S. President Donald Trump is using a decades-old trade law to keep tariffs on countries around the world — but now a federal court is asking whether he has the power to do so.

The U.S. Court of International Trade heard a challenge Wednesday to Trump's tariffs on goods from 60 trading partners, including Canada, which he accuses of failing to prevent imports made with forced labour.

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer says, “The United States prohibits the import of goods with forced labor. Most countries in the world do not, and those who have a prohibition don't really enforce it. So, we're not going to tolerate that anymore.”

Canada is on the receiving end of the tariffs, but the businesses that launched the lawsuit do not purchase goods from Canada.

As Reggie Cecchini explains — billions in trade and the future of the tariff program are at stake.

Canada is expected to introduce stronger measures from now on to address these issues in response to U.S. findings. It’s about time.

Canada whines while Trump builds a LNG pipeline in Alaska to sell to Korea. Hmmm.

But Trump’s tariff has forced Americans to labour more for food on their table. So who is the forced labour? 😂😂

Trump should tax his own companies as they use forced labor of incarcerated criminals.

The Americans need to rewrite the job description for the president. The president can be fired, definitely fire-able. No felons are allowed, and so on.

Funny how they didn't mention any of this last week when China's president was in the US. Trump capitulated to Xi in US soil.
