A process called "blackbody radiation" makes all objects glow with light of a color depending on their temperature.
The reason that you don't see your friends glowing, though, is because we're too cool to glow with visible light - we glow in infrared.
But lava, a hot piece of iron, or soot in a flame are all hot enough to glow with that familiar red-orange light.

"Why do hot objects glow? Because they're hot!"
Would've liked to have more reason
for anyone confused: the heat of the atom makes the electrons wiggle more violently. this wiggling is reduced heavily when they spit out a photon, and so they try to spit out photons often. This is a gross oversimplification, but the point is made.
You… didn’t answer the question.
"Why do process glow? Wouldn't you like to know, weather boy" ahh short
19 second physics
A better explanation: hot atoms shake, and sometimes when they shake they bump into neighboring atoms that causes their electrons to jump to a higher orbital. Since electrons want to stay closer to the nucleus they drop down and release energy in the form of light.
You forget to explain why hot objects glow 😢
Why do hot objects glow? Well they all do! Is that really an answer though?
Literally just looked up how does infrared heat vision work. This is the speedrunniest explanation
So you're saying we have so much aura, that we can't see their infrared glow.
kinda crazy to think your body is just constantly emitting photons
But for black body radiation heat is not sufficient, but also enough material and collisions to have thermodynamic equilibrium. High pressure gas emits as black body, low pressure gas emits with its characteristic spectral lines
So unless you're at absolute zero everything is glowing for someone's eyes in this universe, you just need correct eyes to see it...
How to be so hot ? I need to glow
why does thing do stuff? well, when thing does stuff it's called event. Every thing does stuff, it's just when the thing in question is a person, it does stuff so gently you can't see it.
We glow , it is just we need IR glassess to see
Basically atoms have electrons, those electrons have energy levels, when you add energy (heat), they jump to a higher energy level, but they don't like holding those energy levels for long. When they drop down to a lower energy levels, they release packets of energy, called photons, which we see as light. Bigger jumps in energy levels mean light that's actually visible to us. I'm in college and learned this like 2 weeks ago!
That volcano looks looks like something else...
Follow question, what is black body radiation?
