‘Dancing With the Stars’ alum and host Alfonso Ribeiro responded after Alexa PenaVega admitted she and Hayes Grier wondered how much the votes mattered while they competed on season 21. When a clip of Alexa’s podcast story was shared to social media, Alfonso didn’t want fans to get off on the wrong foot with their assumptions that audience votes weren’t calculated into who goes home every week. He commented, “No chance. We want everyone who’s popular to stay on. It’s basic logic.” Full Story: https://www.eonline.com/news/1437481/dwts-alfonso-ribeiro-responds-after-alexa-penavega-suggests-show-is-rigged

Representation is everything and in showbiz controversy gossip gets the public to watch.
I remember their season, and those two were too involved in each other’s performances and scores, it was annoying . Nick carter and Bindi Irwin were obviously more popular so of course they ended up in the top two. Also at that time, anyone from around the world could vote , online, so the entire nation of Australia could vote 😂. However it’s a highly “produced” show. Producers have the final say
To be fair, Robert’s finale cha cha getting a perfect score last season was a form of rigging. That cha cha was a 7 at best. He was overscored the entire season.
The name of the show is DANCING with the stars!!
The "rigged" comment by Alexa PenaVega has been parroted by viewers whose favorite was sent home since the beginning of the show... and it's gotten old. Bethany Mota had millions of followers too, but most of them stopped voting for her because the show was taking her away from creating her popular podcasts that they loved more. Having a large fan base doesn't always guarantee they're voting.
Thinking about it today, it doesn't make sense how Hayes got sent home, cause I know there are many who would have voted for Hayes, and today, he'd probably make it much further, but being that it was 2015, the relevance for Hayes was there much more than it would today, since nobody uses Vine anymore, once it was replaced with TikTok.
