I've worked among the street population and a lot of them aren't suitable for rigid rules that come with short term accommodation, it MUST be coupled with serious addiction support

Throwing money at a problem they can’t solve. Well it won’t be solved by doing nothing, which is the only ‘solution’ that will not cost money.

The conservatives portraying that not enough affordable housing is a problem that can 'never be solved', shows why they were voted out. Because it IS totally playsible to build enough affordable homes. Homeless people will likely be put into sheltered accomodation, and that will cost local authorities around £400 a week per PERSON....far higher than normal rent or a mortgage. Therefore, a 6 bedroom property can theoretically earn 6 x £400 x 4 weeks = £9,600 per month. Yet no-one gets permanent housing, nor affordable housing. Sheltered accommodation for the homeless should be investigated properly.

Housing shouldn’t be a profit margin for foreign investment firms looking to drive up housing prices by keeping properties artificially empty; there are twice as many empty properties as homeless people. Community owned land where people can keep themselves warm, dry and fed is the answer.
