Voice actor Eric Bauza, famously known as the current voice of Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, passed away. He was 46 years old. His family revealed the news on Sunday night, calling his passing “sudden”; it was later attributed to hypertensive cardiovascular disease.
Born December 7, 1979, the Canadian actor was a production assistant and voice actor on the short-lived Fox Kids show The Ripping Friends. He then replaced Billy West as Stimpy on SpikeTV’s Ren & Stimpy “Adult Party Cartoon,” after which he was all over film and TV. If you were a kid in the 2000s and watched Nick or Cartoon Network, you’d hear him on El Tigre, HiHi Puffy AmiYumi, and Avatar: The Last Airbender in recurring or minor roles.
In terms of franchises, Eric Bauza wasn’t exclusive to Looney Tunes, which began when he voiced Marvin the Martian in The Looney Tunes Show. Marvel animation fans might remember as Zeke Stane in Iron Man: Armored Adventures or Amadeus Cho in the Avengers Confidential anime; to DC lovers, he was Ryan Choi (Justice League: Gods & Monsters) or Two-Face (Batman Ninja), to name a few. And more recently, he was Splinter in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, D.A. Sinclair in Invincible, and Dishy in Date Everything.
This year, Bauza could be heard in Forgotten Island, the indie horror flick Buddy, and several characters within Coyote vs. Acme. (Bugs, Daffy, Foghorn Leghorn—every male Looney Tunes character, basically, save for Taz.) He was vocal about the film’s cancellation and resurrection, encouraging his followers on social media to see the film in theaters. He’ll play the Looney cast in a short attached to The Cat in the Hat. His final performances will be The Dragon Masters and the Looney Tunes film Bye Bye Bunny.
WB TV’s Channing Dungey, in a statement, called Bauza “a unique voice talent who brought joy and laughter to millions around the world. […] Eric said that carrying on the legendary legacy of the Looney Tunes was among the greatest honors of his life. In addition to his incredible talent, Eric was a treasured part of our animation family. Our hearts go out to his loved ones.”
Several voice actors have also eulogized him, with My Hero Academia’s Patrick Seitz saying he “showed me genuine warmth and friendliness every time we crossed paths. His talent was only eclipsed by his humility, and that’s saying something.”
Eric Bauza and I didn’t cross paths very often, but you’d never have known it for the genuine warmth and friendliness he showed me every time we did. His talent was only eclipsed by his humility, and that’s saying something. pic.twitter.com/eDkOYMF2C0

“Eric Bauza fought for all of us, for the preservation of art, to see that real art got to shine, even in the face of corporate greed. The importance of him using his platform and his voice for the betterment of art cannot be understated. Goodnight, sir,” wrote Austin Lee Matthews (Persona 3 Reload).

Date Everything star Robbie Daymond called Bauza “one of the most talented, kind, compassionate, lovable…people I’ve ever known. We were some of the first people to hold each other’s children. […] I witnessed him become the actor, man, and father he always wanted to be. The world will be a dimmer place for his loss. Love you, buddy.”
Still can’t believe it. Eric Bauza was one of the most talented, kind, compassionate, lovable, giving, and wonderful people I’ve ever known.
