Natural diamonds have lost more than half of their value over the past five years.
Several drivers are conspiring against diamonds, including a glut of mined stones that hit the market over the past few years.
CNBC's Liz Napolitano explains.
Hopefully we figure out a way to make lab grown gold so we stop destroying the land to extract it
I think another use of these diamonds might be material science like composites, lightweight material protection, computer processing, and advanced 2d materials.
Now that I don't mind being grown in a lab
Prices aside, the crystal doesn't care: a lab-grown diamond is the same carbon lattice and just as hard, a 10 on Mohs. And hardest isn't toughest: a sharp knock along its cleavage planes can still split one.
Yeah except no major diamond/jewelry store is lowering prices. They’re raising them. This just lowers values for people trying to sell their old diamonds.
Good. Even natural diamonds are no where near as rare as they claim. Diamonds in jewelry loose value when you buy them, because the industry doesn't want them recirculating. They just want you to buy new ones.
now they gonna raise the prices of the lab grown ones 😂
Ridiculous…
Cool story thanks. Liz if you want a lab diamond or real one, let me know. Are you taking applications for a boyfriend?
Can AI create a better movie to make me stay at the movie theater longer and force me to eat more popcorn, buy more soda, and rent a nearby hotel room during intermission? Can the latest AI chip from Nvidia help me negotiate a raise from my boss? I know Groknam is already making moves in the crypto ecosystem.
