It happens...Here in South Africa we had the likes of Graeme Smith , Hashim Amla , Jaques Kallis , Quinton De Kock , Faf du Plessis, AB de Villiers , Dale Steyn , Morne Morkel , Vernon Philander all retiring from Test Cricket over a short time frame leaving us to select a largely young rookie team..And unfortunately the gap between domestic and Test Cricket is big...So it's taken a few seasons to start gaining experience and to rebuild which is still a work in progress...But I think here the public are less demanding of results from the Cricket team than in Aus ..So it's going to be interesting....But for sure it's coming ..These guys can't play forever..
George Bailey, is a disgrace as a selector, never has he actually picked a team… he just callls his mates… when he runs out of friends, he’ll retire so he won’t ever need the balls to actually pick a real team
Typically you have to prune the old wood to let the new growth to come out
The problem is there is so much International Cricket being played that our Test Team players can't play Domestic Cricket. If Starc, Cummins & Hazelwood were playing Sheffield Shield, You could see which up and coming batsmen could handle the step up in class. Same goes for the batsmen vs the younger bowlers. Plus it would give them a chance to get out of a slump by batting time instead of 20 balls and out.
Only losing the 3rd test can help them be at their best for bgt and nz series
All a lot of buddy buddy
But but they aged soo well
It's almost like they are too scared to tap Lyon on the shoulder... Not 1 player under 30 with Greens injury
History repeating itself through generations 1984, 2007 and now maybe 2027 post ashes
This is George Baileys fault... He had a chance to bring in young boys but he's constantly looking for second chance sad stories Mattinson for example... Lol that guy is not international quality at all Now they'll have to feel the pain by having 5 newbies in one go
answer could be on one, this could be the west indies moment where aus test cricket collapses not due to poor management or interstate rivalries and politics but lack of incentive to play cricket and lack of development by the board due to the wtc structure.
Quite an amazing stat with Renshaw being the 'baby' of the team at 30. The truth is if you dig down into the stats of win/loss ratios, this is the second most successful Australian Test team of all time, and thus their success has been rewarded with ongoing selection. But obviously the clock is ticking very loudly, and in 5 years time, all of these players will have retired with the exception of Renshaw. It will be the biggest 'changing of the guard' in Australian Test cricket history.
Oh come on. They should have been feeding in young guys in the last Windies series and the Bangladesh series. Bailey, Dodemaide and Cummins all need replacing. It's like an old boys club, with failing pals continuing to be selected.
Is Smith spooked about guilt of Sandpaper Gate on the up and coming third Test ??
They should have started dealing with it the day the England test team headed home at the end of last summer with the next ashes series 18 months away, it's now 9 months away and they have done nothing. The 2 tests against Bangladesh would have been a good start. The only up side here is that England has plenty of problems too. I can't believe Manus is still there, how????
Learn from Sri Lanka , When Sanga, Mahela , Dilshan, Murali, Vaas all retired in a short span our cricket went to $hit cuz the replacements weren't transitioned to the team properly.
Absolutely no idea
I just looked at the ages of the south african team and they're in the same boat. Only 2 players under 25. And then the rest are all over 30. So in a couple of years we will see a similar situation unless new players are blooded in the next 2 seasons.
So, who isn't there is better than who is there?
Yeah but we don’t blood anyone.. absolutely disgusting… zero respect for the game and the future
