In this OnePath Podcast, Dr. Yasir Qadhi joins us for a frank conversation about what it means to live as a Muslim in the West today: our responsibility before Allah, to our families, and to the communities we call home.
Dr. Qadhi shares his perspective on the rise of Muslim politicians such as Zohran Mamdani and Abdul El-Sayed, why he does not endorse candidates, and why no politician will ever be our saviour. He also speaks candidly about the idealism behind migration.
We also discuss the revival among young Muslims since Gaza, how online division distorts the reality of our communities, his first visit to Syria, the lessons of Salahuddin, and the spiritual cost of handing our thinking over to AI.
Dr. Yasir Qadhi is the Dean of the Islamic Seminary of America, the Resident Scholar at the East Plano Islamic Center in Texas, and the Chairman of the Fiqh Council of North America.

Dr Qadi is an amazing speaker and communicator His depth of knowledge and rationalization is commendable I pray for his continued success , rewards from Allah for him
Alhamdulilah for Dr Sh Yasir Qadhi.
May God bless your work, Sheikh Yasir Qadhi is answering a lot of question Muslims in the west are having, its a relief he is expressing our concerns.
One reason the Umma lost its dignity is that it lost meritocratic systems that recognized and rewarded gifted people in society. When the Islamic world embraced meritocracy, it thrived, but it fell when it became tribal. For example, the Abbasid Caliphate built the House of Wisdom to create a base for scholars and reward them regardless of their background, which helped launch the golden age of Islam. Even when the Mongols ravaged the Muslim world and burned down the House of Wisdom, the Umma still recognized scholars and rewarded them. For instance, when Ibn Battuta left his home riding a donkey in his twenties, the Umma invited him to join the leadership of their community to benefit from his knowledge and what made possible his journey of inventing the sociological field. Unfortunately, the Muslims internalized the colonial tactic of divide and conquer. They began to value tribalism over scholarship. As a result of adopting the tribalism mindset, it is impossible to produce leaders who can guide the Umma to prosperity and dignity.
The summary of what Sheikh said is USE YOUR COMMON SENSE. I liked his conversation cause I always believe that Islam is simple not some complicated puzzle as some so called scholars portray.
MashaAllah! A timely, insightful, and much-needed reminder from Sheikh Yasir Qadhi. Islam calls us to be a source of unity, wisdom, compassion, and positive change—not division and hostility. Let us strengthen our communities, engage responsibly, and protect our future generations. Faith must inspire action, not merely online arguments! May Allah ﷻ guide and unite our Ummah. Ameen! 🤲
A must watch for immigrant and minority Muslims ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The Narcissism of Trivial Differences. Bars! Thank you Dr.Q for bringing this concept and understanding to the community. Such an important understanding. What unites us is far greater than what divides us!
