In this OnePath Podcast, Dr. Yasir Qadhi joins us for a frank conversation about what it means to live as a Muslim in the West today: our responsibility before Allah, to our families, and to the communities we call home.
Dr. Qadhi shares his perspective on the rise of Muslim politicians such as Zohran Mamdani and Abdul El-Sayed, why he does not endorse candidates, and why no politician will ever be our saviour. He also speaks candidly about the idealism behind migration.
We also discuss the revival among young Muslims since Gaza, how online division distorts the reality of our communities, his first visit to Syria, the lessons of Salahuddin, and the spiritual cost of handing our thinking over to AI.
Dr. Yasir Qadhi is the Dean of the Islamic Seminary of America, the Resident Scholar at the East Plano Islamic Center in Texas, and the Chairman of the Fiqh Council of North America.

I agree. While it's necessary to support those of us involved in politics and support movements for change, it's never a substitute for working within our own sphere. It's great to support these politicians/candidates and make people more aware of them and what they stand for, it's even more important to focus on what we can do to implement change for the best. In fact, the only reason people like Mamdani and el-Sayed got into politics in the first place, is because they understand this. It's important to work on all fronts, but very easy to get caught up in just cheering others on without doing much yourself.
😭😭I swear by God that I only speak out because of hunger, poverty, and dire circumstances. My younger siblings and I have gone three days without food. Every hour, our landlord knocks, demanding rent and threatening to throw us out onto the street if we do not pay. O people with compassionate hearts—I swear by the One who raised the heavens and spread out the earth—there is not even a single day’s worth of food in our home; we are suffering immensely, relying only on the occasional help of neighbors. You who love your own sons and daughters—please know that we, too, are someone’s daughters, and we, are suffering in agony, yet no one looks upon us with a merciful eye.... I appeal to you, those who love to do good:,,,.we are orphans with no one to turn to, and we face the threat of being evicted from our home and cast out onto the street if we do not pay the rent.,.,...،.،.،،😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
