His red ball results are atrocious. A whitewash at home against NZ, whitewash against SA, thrashing in Australia. England was 2-2 due to Eng being pathetic and reckless post rain in the fifth test. In white ball we’ve lost to Ireland of all teams and England. Yes he’s delivered 2 trophies - I don’t disagree. Hats off. But we’ve to call spade a spade. The best solution if white ball doesn’t improve- 2 separate coaches. This WTC cycle reaching the final is a miracle. We couldn’t even beat SL in the second test. There was no strategy when Dinusha was clearly slog sweeping on the legside. We can’t win 6/7 against NZ and Aus. Forget it. These guys all don’t want to lose their jobs and want to be in the good books of BCCI. The title of this video gives it away. Cricket punditry in India is boring and has lost credibility.
Harsha's right.. Social media has ruined it all.. The PR army is always working overtime.. And the "fans" are too blind to see this.. Narratives are propagated without adequate justification, even before the game is played... Victories are attributed to individual players(for whom the PR team is working), while losses are blamed squarely upon other individual players (which the PR team is working against).. For instance, if in a particular match, if one batter is swapped for another and the team loses the game, the social media floods with comments supporting the benched player, while hurling literal abuses at the player selected to replace the benched player(even if such a replacement player performs well in a losing cause).. Case in point?? The Champions Trophy success is attributed to Rohit Sharma and the "pre-Gambhir era" ODI squad/players, but the failures against Ireland and England in the T20I series is attributed to Gambhir instead of Shreyas Iyer.. (read the two comments below).. And this isn't restricted to India.. Thanks to franchise cricket, this has become a global phenomenon.. Take Harry Brook's recent double hundred in a losing cause.. A lot of social media users ridiculed him and England (especially after the match) instead of appreciating his entry in the ODI double centurions club..

The coach and captain taking criticism is part of the job. He is not answerable to the fans but to the board. So he can continue his work. There are definitely lot of examples of poor performance by the team in both red ball and white ball series during GG tenure and thankfully they were not during the World Cups.
Does sending Axar Patel ahead of in form Tilak, Naman and Nitish is it a good choice by Coach when required run rate is more than 11runs? This India team can win without Gambhir and has won Gold in Asian games and bilateral series with VVS Laxman assistance.

Under Gambhir we lost: 1. ODI series in England 2. ODI series in Aus 3. ODI series vs NZ at home 4. Test series vs NZ at home (3-0) 5. Test series vs SA at home (2-0) Even the Test series in England we could not win. Champions Trophy was won with the players Rohit Virat and Dravid built over the years. Gambhir’s Test and ODI record as coach is as bad as Brendon McCullum, if not worse. I still admire his days as a cricketer, but as a coach he is stubborn and it is evident that he wants things his way, that is why you constantly see the bits-and-pieces players at number 8 in all formats, rather than proper bowler. This defensive mindset is costing us a lot.
Honestly, very poor analysis from all of you. Especially disappointed with Harsha selectively ignoring the red ball cricket. The whole world knows how GG has destroyed Test cricket in spite of of having loads of talent to choose from. India have been smashed by South Africa and New Zealand at home. They lost the prestigious BGT last time after 10 years. Real cricket fans love test cricket and that is exactly what Gautam has ruined !! And you guys are conveniently ignoring that fact. Are you guys been scared by the BJP GOVERNMENT?
What ODI records is he talking about...??? Apart from that Champions Trophy win which was captained by Rohit and maximum players were off the 2023 World Cup squad what has he won, an ODI series against Afghanistan and West Indies.. Ye has lost against Australia in Australia, lost against England in England, lost against and second string New Zealand team at home. So what ODI record are you talking about
I don't think the criticism was unfair, the team was winning despite his and team management's bad decisions. The same experts were scratching their heads over some of his decisions. Now, you cannot say it was unfair.
