Ella Langley Cancels Tulsa Show Over “Serious Security Threat”

UPDATED with Tulsa PD’s statement: Ella Langley has been forced to skip the Tulsa, Oklahoma stop on her Dandelion Tour for the safety of herself and fans.

Hours before the chart-topping “Choosin’ Texas” artist was set to take the stage at BOK Center, she announced the concert’s cancellation over a “serious security threat” posed to the event.

“Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans, the venue staff, and my team, the incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight’s show,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “This decision was made under the advisement of local authorities, the venue, and my security team.”

Langley added, “I know how much time, travel, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can’t tell you how sorry I am. This is not a decision that was made lightly. I was so looking forward to spending tonight with you, but your safety will always mean more to me than anything else. I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way.”

Tulsa PD’s Captain Richard G. Meulenberg IV noted in a statement that it was Langley’s team who made the decision to cancel the show.

After doing a standard pre-sweep with BOK Center and bomb-sniffing dogs, Meulenberg explained “a call came in saying that someone’s going to do great harm to the people here at this event,” which could include gunshots or an explosion.

“So, we came out again in an over abundance of caution, used our bomb dogs again, searched the entire area,” said Meulenberg. “We could not find a credible threat here at the BOK Center.”

The venue confirmed the cancellation on their own social media, noting that details regarding ticket refunds “will be shared as soon as possible.”

“The safety and well-being of everyone involved is our absolute priority, and after careful consideration, we have determined that the show cannot proceed,” said the BOK Center. “We understand the disappointment this news brings and apologize to fans who planned to attend. The safety of fans is our foremost concern and will always come first.”

Langley’s Dandelion Tour, accompanying her sophomore studio album, comes after the lead single “Choosin’ Texas” became the longest-running No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. The tour is scheduled to continue on Saturday at the United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas.
