Chris Brown has been given a suspended prison sentence following a confrontation in a London nightclub in 2023.
BBC News has reported in the past few minutes that the singer was given an eight-month sentence, suspended for 12 months, after the incident that took place at a London nightclub in Mayfair.
The judge said Brown’s “repeated use of a glass bottle” to strike the defendant was “plainly dangerous” and risked “causing significantly more serious injury” than was ultimately sustained, according to BBC News.
Brown’s co-defendant, his vocal coach Omololu Akinlolu, a rapper who performs under the name Hoody Baby, was given a four-month sentence, also suspended for 12. The pair pleaded guilty to affray earlier this year. Assault and grievous bodily harm charges, which the pair denied, were previously dropped, as was a charge Brown faced of having an offensive weapon.
Brown arrived at London’s Southwark Crown Court today wearing a mask, glasses and a cap. He was attending the same court as Russell Brand, whose trial is currently taking place in a different Southwark courtroom.
Brown has previously spent time in prison in L.A. after violating his probation. This came after he pleaded guilty to felony assault of his then girlfriend Rihanna in a case that attracted global media attention.
