AI needs far more than advanced chips and giant data centers. It needs the networks that connect them.
Nokia CEO Justin Hotard joins CNBC’s Arjun Kharpal to explain why the company sees itself at the centre of the AI infrastructure buildout: providing the optical and IP networking technology linking AI data centres, as well as the mobile-network equipment that could support the next generation of robotics, autonomous vehicles and other physical AI.
Hotard argues demand for AI infrastructure remains in its early stages, with customers constrained by power, silicon and supply rather than a lack of appetite to build. He also lays out his view of 6G: less a conventional upgrade in mobile speeds, and more a shift toward intelligent networks that can sense, plan and act.
The conversation also covers Europe’s AI challenge, the debate over data-centre expansion and Nokia’s ambitions in space communications and orbital data centres.

Companies that survive fierce global competition are the ones that support their respective countries.
Love when you create this kind of talk. Invite people with know-how and ability to communicate ideas and truth&fact. And both sides talk with smartness civilization. ❤❤❤❤
Great conversation...👍
Solution most important
Sometimes slow but sure can benefit than fast but risky obviously.😊
Talking about AI Data Centers (ADC) usefulness compared to their problems, the conclusion for now is negatively ROI. Clean water, waste water, fuels, heat, noise, light ……everywhere big or small ADC creates will 24/7 suffer people around the areas of ADC. In big or small cities these problems will be there so shouldn't they slow down and improve the situations before further push? General people acceptance of AI overall problems and ability may dictate its future, or not?
Mobile phone introduced Nokia to me and have lots of respect for Nokia invention and idea but the word AI is in problem currently. Supported AI since the first day I learn about it from media and follow it since. My experience with chat AI was not impressive. Gave only two scores out of ten because of its mistakes, disobedient to requests, bad advice which I did not ask for, answers got mostly redundant of my ideas and questions, worse was its obvious bias for example toward China which surprise me but I guess all from the materials used in training AI. So if Nokia wanted to use AI to promote new idea and invention, wish Nokia can control most or all of what made AI unreliable and untrustworthy machine or products&services.😊❤
Totally unimpressed
nokia revenues has been flat to down for over a decade! In the end, they are a telecom infrastructure company....which means you only get to monetize it ONCE.
