AI is making cyberattacks faster, cheaper and more sophisticated — but it could also be one of the most powerful tools for stopping them.
Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora joins CNBC’s Arjun Kharpal to discuss the growing cybersecurity risks from advanced AI. He explains how bad actors can use AI to search for vulnerabilities at scale, create more convincing phishing scams and target companies with far less effort than before.
The conversation also explores the security challenge posed by AI agents: systems that can act autonomously inside a company. Arora says businesses need to know who created an agent, what access it has and whether its behaviour remains within the rules it was given.
Arora also gives his view on the debate over slowing frontier AI development, arguing that global “pacing” is unrealistic and that companies should instead be responsible for ensuring products are safe before release.
Finally, he warns that quantum computing could threaten modern encryption within the next several years — and explains why nation states may already be collecting encrypted information today in the hope of decrypting it later.
