Charges and Sentence • Federal Charge: Pleaded guilty to one count of failure to register as a sex offender after moving from New York to California in 2019 and failing to update his status within the required five-day window. • Sentence: Sentenced in July 2022 to 3 years of probation, 1 year of home detention (house arrest), and a $55,000 fine by a U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, as reported by CBS Los Angeles. Background Record • 1995 Conviction: Convicted in New York of first-degree attempted rape involving a 16-year-old girl, for which he served roughly four and a half years in prison. This conviction required him to register as a sex offender for life. • Civil Lawsuit: The victim later filed a civil lawsuit in federal court against Petty and Nicki Minaj, accusing them of harassment and witness intimidation to force her to recant her story.
