British Columbia has elected a new leader. Lorne Doerkson, installed as leader of the BC Conservative Party just weeks ago, was swept into power on Saturday. It marks a dramatic shift in the province as the BC Conservatives appeared to be in disarray when David Eby called a snap election in September. Sarah MacDonald reports.
First Nations leaders are in Ottawa for a historic meeting with Canada’s premiers and Prime Minister Mark Carney. It’s the first time in years a gathering like this has taken place. But as Jillian Piper reports, there are a number of provincial leaders who won’t be in attendance.

Its hard to believe that the Indians get all this money and most of it does not get to the people that need it the most. If governments what to do anything they should be working on that instead of giving the money to the chiefs and then it is gone, with zero accountability because government leaders don't want to be call racist.

The only thing Eby got right was calling an election. None too soon either. The only surprise was how many people actually voted fo his party, after the shipwreck he has made of this province.

Why is only portion of the population getting a voice in these meetings? The mandate of the governemtn should be for all Canadians, not special interests...
How does this news cast not understand Premier elect Derksen can not attend in his capacity as he has not been sworn government. Don’t make it sound like BC isn’t attending because they don’t support the First Nations meeting.

I do agree, the First Nations should funnel that money back to the First Nations community to spend on improving the First Nations community, like the most important is clean water for the First Nations community around Canada and more social programs to promote better careers for the younger First Nations community and for adults as well.

Honestly, I live near by a college campus back in NYS (outside of Rochester, NY). Frankly, I am surprised something like this happened. At the same time, there should be step by step process to even see if this was suppose to happen. If so, what condition. Keep in mind, say if it was something completely different.
