First Nations leaders gathered in Ottawa Sunday ahead of a historic meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney and some premiers.
Monday’s meeting will be the first such gathering since the Kelowna Accord talks of 2005, which brought premiers and then-prime minister Paul Martin together with Indigenous leaders to discuss ways to close the socioeconomic gaps in their communities.
Assembly of First Nations National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak told reporters that First Nations want to partner with the provinces to build a strong economy that works for everyone.
But as Jillian Piper reports, there are a number of provincial leaders who won’t be in attendance.

These Chiefs are as corrupt as our government. They steal our taxes and leave their own people living in poverty.
dam im sick of it
If only we treated our veterans so well.
😆😆😆😆😆😆 Such a joke.
Why are we labeling Indian Tribes as First Nation? There was no Nation that existed before Canada. How long will Canadians put up with this special privileged group being labeled as victims as they rake in millions of Canadian Tax Dollars. This is extortion of Canadians and most of Canadians in Canada now have no ties to what happened hundreds of years ago. Enough is Enough!.
NO MORE MONEY. FAMILIES ARE BROKE
100% grift.
The problem is First Nations governments have learned from the Federal and provincial governments and are as corrupt or even more so. The First Nations have received 110 billion dollars over the last 50 years and still the first nations people still live in poverty!
They're just gonna ask for more money, as usual. Tired of the grifting, they don't want any reconciliation.
the United Nations (UN) does NOT have the power to make, veto, or directly override domestic laws in Canada or any other sovereign nation!! The UN is full of liberals with toxic empathy and then Justin Trudeau pushed DRIPA through because he is a narcissistic demom! All this has accomplished is a sense of superiority narcissistic attitudes along with very rich entitled Chiefs lining their pockets while there reserves are being neglected and the unjustified vilification of the innocent Canadians being blamed for the sins of their forefathers!! Leading to hatred and Division‼️ I DID NOT CHOOSE MY SKIN COLOUR STOP THE BIGOTRY HATRED AND BLAMING‼️
Corrupt liberal government with corrupt first nation , what can go wrong
This is all you need to know. There is no public or official record of Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak's net worth. • Public Official Status: As the National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations, her compensation comes from organization-approved leadership salaries rather than publicly traded assets or private financial disclosures. • Available Information: Private net worth figures for Indigenous political leaders in Canada are not tracked or published by financial or government registries.
Reconciliation is a scam.
One day.... maybe or maybe not in my lifetime. A political leader is going to look at all the "treaties" and say "That's it, we've had it, we're done!" And is going to rip them all up. It will happen. The Chiefs are just as corrupt as the politicians! Ok, mass graves, lets grab a shovel and start digging, let us see!
If we want to build this country we need stop treating first nations as nations and consider they are just like any other canadians! this show and dance and virtue signal needs to stop! we are either all canadian or we are not! there should be no difference between me and a first nation!
Endless whining they want money its always more money
Is anyone else getting tired of the natives getting special considerations that hard working tax paying Canadians don’t receive?
What is going on do they want more money again?
first nations are canadians like the rest of us, stop the special treatment and get to work making your own life better. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
Over paid chiefs as their people are left to fend for themselves in poverty. 5% of the population of Canada and they have more rights and privileges then the other 95%.
