Ebola outbreaks can be contained, but ending them is another story. Conflict, fragile healthcare systems, and limited access to vaccines give the virus new chances to spread. Stopping one outbreak helps prevent the next.

That account of money is peanuts compared to what's being spent on wars currently...
the fact that that amount of money is pocket change for a handful of people and yet they dont do anything
I remember once seeing a Forensic Files episode about a kid contracting Ebola after eating a tiny piece of uncooked meat. Poor thing was in constant pain for months in a hospital bed… The only reason they even survived was from their blood getting switched out for someone else’s, and even then, they never really recovered… Traumatized me as a kid
A little disappointed they didn't mention what happens to the "lucky" survivors. That kind of systemic attack leaves its mark on survivors. It's like how we tend to focus so intensely on the people killed by various causes... but completely ignore the numbers of people permanently disabled or with severe chronic issues that require lifelong management they otherwise wouldn't have.
That little money is needed? For those who look at that sum and (understandably) think I'm crazy, a large number of Hollywood movies can comfortably reach that amount in total budget and funding - and yet still make that back and more. While it understandably isn't a small amount it's also far more achievable than you'd initially think.
I'm terrified of Eboler
It's not just the money, it's getting it to the right place too. It's one of the most corrupt countries in the world.
That bat was diabolical lmao
Simple, someone is forgetting to take out the spawners
“I always come back”
500 millions still affordable than having 500 billions on single war 😢
rip to the ppl that passed of ebola
The current outbreak in DRC is really bad because USAID was cancelled a while ago, leaving local doctors under-resourced.
Guess who back?, back again.
In research 2 decades ago, they were called "bricks". When technology picked up the term to mean a dead phone, we stopped using the term. ebola bricked the patient until fluids couldnt be contained was essentially what we saw under microscope.
Just wanted to point out that the music here is incredible
Ebola: Just this once
I’m fine spending the money, I just don’t trust that much money to actually be spent on containment and fixing this issue sadly
It’s unsettling that, just before the new spike in Ebola cases, I had to do a project and write a report on the virus. I did some research and saw how cases had risen drastically over the previous two years—there were around 800 cases at the time. It was a topic I had chosen for a presentation; then, two weeks later, it was all over the news and went viral. The last major outbreak was in 2014, if I recall correctly. It was just a coincidence, but I find it striking.
