This Is What a Godlike Civilization Would Look Like

Maybe the real power was the friends we made along the way.

The Barrow Scale sounds like an amazing basis for a lovecraftian horror short story

I like the idea that advanced civilizations are out there, and the reason we don't see them is because instead of expanding outwards into the galaxy and universe, once they get to the level of conquering their star system, they learn how to harness quantum energy and are able to essentially shrink themselves into the quantum realm, where at that size, they might as well have infinite space and energy. From there, there's no reason to expand beyond their solar system, or even their home planet, as everything is contained in an extraordinarily small space, and from their perspective is larger than the known universe is at our scale. From down there, they have an almost godlike strength, and could either kill us with ease, or don't see the need to, since they don't need to conquer new stars, and if we came to them, there's nothing we could do to affect them at that level. They would slip through our fingers, and we could walk right through them without doing anything at all to their universe. Maybe time is dilated down there too, and they live out billions of years of relative time in just a nano second of our time.

This is the most Kurzgasagt-y video I've watched in a while

aliens might think of us as belligerent monkeys shouting into space because we are too stupid to realise everything we need is already available

The Barrow Scale offers a neat resolution to the Fermi Paradox: alien civilizations aren't loud space empires because true mastery turns outward noise into inward efficiency.

Leaving a Kurzgesagt video with a brand-new, terrifyingly specific existential crisis is just part of the weekly routine now.

12:20 Even someone just accidentally dropping a test tube containing a sample of the universe would make a fire plot for a sci-fi novel

Kurzgesagt is the only form of entertainment actually keeping the mystery and magic of reality alive.

Anytime Kurzgesagt uploads a space video, I turn into the Space Core from Portal 2.

The idea that the most advanced civilisations might be the quietest ones, growing inward rather than outward, completely flips the Fermi paradox on its head. Maybe the sky isn't empty; we're just listening for the wrong kind of noise.

We’ve spent decades searching the sky for giant space empires with telescopes, while alien gods were probably just hanging out in a quiet corner of the galaxy, running entire multiverses inside a single atom.

Sitting down for a coffee with a friend: “I’m having surgery?” “Oh, what?” “Right now.”
