focusing on the corners instead of directions immediately helped me predict where the "left" arrow would point, i think your theory works
“Yo heads or tails?” “Uh…. Left!”
Vsauce, the more I think about it, the more by ability to think decreases.
"What do I know" -Says, the genius.
So the octagon isn't the magical one... Its our minds...
As a magician I can assure you the words are a big part about why this (and most) illusions work. Gaslighting the brain is surprisingly easy.
The magic octagon: ❌ The magic octagonal prism: ❌ The magic octagonal prison OF YOUR MIND: ✅
Its the mirror image when the dude you can’t see isn’t facing you that people Can’t change in their minds
He did it, my brain finally broke.

Making a mental reference point, front and back based on which letter or direction the opposite arrow will point toward, will allow you to always know where each arrow will land.
My problem with the rotations occurred either way you presented it. Every time you rotated the coin by 45°, in my mind I envisioned the arrow on the back rotating 45°, but in the wrong direction. That was the step where my imagination messed up both times.
I never thought I’d be so tripped out form a coin.
Back to the normal Vsauce now

even trying looking at the corners i got it wrong
