Botfly parasitism has always been one of my biggest fears
Iodine also works on botflies. Used it on a kitten that had it above the eye. Kitten lived and even regained use of its eye.
"THATS WHAT YOU FIND EXTREME!?" Got me 😂.
thought that was serj tankien for a brief confusing second
About 3 months ago I found a tiny kitten under my house with a botfly in its neck. We put Vaseline over the hole and when it poked its head out I pulled it out with tweezers. It was at least 2 inches long. One of the most disgusting things I've ever had to do. Kitten is doing great now.
That’s how they are treated on the farm. You put baby oil or petroleum jelly over the hole, and the larvae will work its way out. Pretty common practice for old generation livestock farmers.
Unskippable title
botflies are genuinely horrific
That sounds like a excruciatingly horrid experience.
Every time I see a clip from this episode, all I can do is think about how much this guy reminds me of Serj Tankian
Botfly’s are so scary- 😭
they seem to have similar passionate energy just seemingly from different worlds , one modern medical and one like,, natural & amazonian vibe hahaha i really love that
I’d prefer the quick sharp pain of a punch hole vs the whack a maggot method. If I was ever in that situation, which is unlikely! It just seems weird that the guest was like ‘eh botflies’ to ‘oh no a small, very precise hole is being made in me to remove a parasite! That’s horrible’ but I guess he’s more used to one than the other.
I thought that was Serj Tankian talking about bot flys
Bro look like Serj Tankian lead singer from System of a down
Bro looks like his favorite words are “father into your hands I commend my spirit”
Honestly, just scoop out a chunk cuz I dont even want the part that it touched anymore anyway.. I just know I'd be so paranoid that they didn't get it all out..
Same thing happened to my wife while playing on her grandmas farm in Antioquia, Colombia 😂 ones person’s strange and exotic is another person’s normal.
In my country you boil star anise in water, you want it strong, like 6 in a cup of water, let it rest until room temp, and just pour it in the holes to fill it, in like 2 minutes the thing comes out, and you can catch it...
The proper treatment method is to suffocate the botfly by taping over the hole with something air can't pass through. You need it dead before removal, so you don't rip your meat out due to its bristle gripping your meat when it resist.
