Drawing attention to these tribes can be a double-edged sword, BUT it is a lot harder to make a group disappear that everyone knows about than a group no one knows exists.
I find it interesting how universal pointing is.
Companies thrive on pretending these people and their environments don’t exist. Documenting them proves they need protections. It’s unfortunate that they cannot consent due to not understanding cameras, internet, etc but they are also not really subject to any consequences from being online.
This man is 100% correct. They don't have the means to tell the rest of the world they exist. They deserve to be protected like anyone else. No one's home should be damaged or destroyed.
The truth is right there at the end. Traffickers and Subcontracting companies are the real threat to these people
Sometimes “uncontacted” doesn’t mean they haven’t made contact. Sometimes they know about the outside world and refuse to partake. I don’t really blame them.
I love how Dr. Mike is so attentive and curious
People don’t realize there would be a lot more tribes like this around but there isn’t because they were murdered or had where they live destroyed or were enslaved

I genuinely find it hysterical that in the 'Conservationist' clip, both groups of people are doing the same thing: pointing across the river at each other, turning to their friends and going 'YO WHAT THE FU-?!'
I am surprised that Dr Mike didn't mention the very real risk of infecting these uncontacted people with pathogens they don't have resistance too, as has happened before to other uncontacted tribes in very brief interactions.
I love that Dr. Mike asks questions instead of just taking everything at face value- not to say that the guy he's talking to is bullshitting- it's just that it shows Dr. Mike genuinely wants to know the answer to things like "How do we know what they don't have if they're uncontacted?" and the guy had a genuinely reasonable answer.
here in brazil there is a government organization called funai (national foundation of indigenous peoples) that cares for and advocates for indigenous peoples' rights, both uncontacted and not, in order to maintain their lifestyle according to each peoples' preference. the strictest rules in place are for the protection of uncontacted individuals.
I think it's crazy how somebody can take a picture in the public. Outcry is that somebody is ruining their lives, but they don't take that same energy to the companies and the government and the criminals that go out there and actually destroy those people's lives.

I remember reading an article about an anthropologist flying on a plane shooting photos to document uncontacted tribes. "The people who would come for them wouldn't be shooting cameras..." something like that.
