People overthink things. Just use the device for what it is.
Duo will inevitably get more capabilities as it gets widely adopted. They had to start somewhere with the basic side by side dual apps, while still differentiating itself from the true iPad Mac-like multitasking.
The inner screen as an iPad mini would be the greatest divide Apple ever made. Give me that without the folding nonsense. I'm so worried about snapping my Duo every time I open it

iPad mini is a better tablet than the unfolded Duo. It actually lets you run full iPad apps. It lets you use pressure sensitive Pencil Pro. It doesn’t have a crease that will get worse over time.
But can it run Crysis? 😅

Personally, now that MacBook users are getting a touchscreen on their Mac they hopefully leave us iPad users alone and stop trying to turn an iPad into a MacBook.
How about a Mac with a removable screen that acts as an iPad independently with a removable section that acts as a duo 😂
The tldr for WHY they aren’t iPad apps is: The way apps work is they ask the App Store when they’re downloaded what device they’re being downloaded onto. App Store replies, and they send the data for the corresponding device onto the device. If you have apps that are BOTH phone and iPad you effectively need to double the storage, as the entire framework has been built around these things being separate and not interchangeable. I don’t entirely understand it, but I’ve spoken to people who work on apps, and they said they were terrified of the rumors of a folding phone if it meant the higher ups might even TRY and do both. It would require burning and rebuilding nearly everything Apple has built for apps for the last 10+ years
Duo with have the multitasking capabilities of the iPad with iOS 28, Apple is probably beta testing as we speak 😂

If they made it so when you opened the Duo it was exactly an iPad mini, they’d be flaying Apple for not innovating, and saying well why don’t I just use my iPad? There’s no actual point of view to this reporting, just how can I twist this into a complaint somehow?
