foldables aren’t for everybody. nothings really stopping you from using this as a ipad (once the apps are optimized properly)

You would complain either way so just enjoy it or return it guys.
The problem with foldables that nobody seems to be talking about is that whether you see this device as an iPad with a phone attached or a phone with an iPad attached is that those items sold separately can comfortably last between 5 and 6 years whereas foldables not so much.
This is a stupid argument. You essentially are saying nothing.

It's a foldable phone. It's a market they hadn't entered yet. What would be the point of a wifi only smaller ipad mini? I don't understand who that would be for
What’s the point of that though? You don’t add functionality by making an iPad foldable. The purpose is to add more screen to the phone that is already in your pocket everywhere you go. An iPad generally just stays at home or in your work bag, you don’t need it to be more pocketable.
You would not be talking about it radically differently. Because the software issues you complain about would still be the same. In fact you’d probably be saying “why didn’t they just put cellular in this thing and call it an iPhone??”
Don’t really think anyone would be overjoyed at a $2000 256gb cellular iPad mini with a party trick. You’re saying the fold and outside screen are worth like $1300 to people, when it literally would 3x the price in that scenario. The better take is that iPhones are actually horribly overpriced.

It’s an iPhone because it’s a phone but it’s really not a smartphone or a tablet. It is it’s own thing.
Give me a break. You would talked it about it exactly the same because every Apple release follows the exact same news cycle.
