There are some people who just can't seem to get high on THC, and it might have something to do with variations in baseline body chemistry. As it turns out, your endocannabinoid system being out of whack could be affecting a lot more than your urge to eat every chip in the house...

Having painkillers be ineffective is a lot worse than not getting high on weed
Once as a teenager I made a small batch of edible brownies and left them discreetly in the back of the fridge. I opened the fridge later and to my horror, a piece was missing. My mom had some. I panicked for about 20 minutes until I decided to come clean before the effects hit her. She was surprisingly chill about it but more interestingly, she reported no effects. So either she's one of these people who aren't affected by THC or I suck at making edibles lol
Just checked again and happy to report that i can get quite high
The low receptor scenario reminds me of how as an ADHD person if i have too much caffiene i want to go to bed
I can get high, I just checked. Doing my bit for the advancement of human knowledge
There's a third group, who instead of getting high, end up having extreme anxiety BECAUSE of the marijuana, and feel incredibly sick after small doses. I'm in that category.
My friend said, "I like how it makes my body feel, but I don't like how it makes my mind work. "
My mom said she tried weed in college and didn't see the point because it did nothing for her. Just last year she tried medical patches for chronic pain and again, 0 effects. She also has a super high tolerance to pain killers in general. This has always fascinated me, especially because she apparently passed some of that on to me.
"Frequent users may require larger doses" Huh I hadn't noticed. I say sitting in a literal cloud of smoke
I see weed science, I click. It's criminal that the research has been ignored thus far.
Weed helps me make my brain shut up. It's nice to just hang out on the couch and watch a movie all the way through.
Puts me in mind of how some cats are "immune" to catnip. Two of my cats growing up adored nip, and one could not have cared in any way, shape, or form. It didn't affect Tegan at all, while Leah and Addie were happy little rolly babies from it.
The real question is why is it working sooo well for some. Asking for a friend
Imagine having a naturally high tolerance to both caffeine and THC. Welcome to my very mundane, simple life.
It just makes me cranky. Like I turn into an old man and get mad at the pot smoking hippies around me.
Ive actually used weed at times as a hunger suppressant
I once was trying to listen to a talk on the radio. For 5 minutes. Then I realised it’s just a fridge buzzing.
It used to make me anxious and sometimes have no effect when I tried it, but after I got much less anxious with therapy and tried it with someone I was very comfortable around it didn’t make me anxious and had more of the nice effects
I used to work at a (enormous finger quotes) "Japanese" restaurant in Austin, TX back in the aughts and one person I worked with was this TINY young woman who smoked ENORMOUS quantities. Constantly. Never in my life seen anyone smoke more. And she never seemed wasted or high. It must have done something for her but I was like, how is this worth what you must be spending on it?
It just makes me anxious and hungry. It sucks. Not paranoid, anxious.
