Few things bring me more joy than watching/hearing someone geek out about their special interest, I'll happily learn about pretty much anything from people who are passionate about their subject!!
Denali, it's a pleasure to learn as you geek out over this subject! I hope you get to research at the Gakkel Ridge!
This is not my regular Spooky Lake Month but I'll take it.
Shout out to NOAA for all the work and research they do on our oceans! They need way more funding!
Did not realize the depth of my ignorance. I knew the statistical difference between knowledge of the ocean floor and astronomy. But the things listed blew my mind.
holy crap that topographic tattoo is one of the coolest sleeves ive ever seen. i cant wait for more Denali videos!
Denali, congrats on the SciShow gig!!!! You are such a good scientist and presenter, I'm excited to watch you anywhere!!!
I remember hearing year's ago that we know more about cosmology than what is in our oceans. It's remarkable what we're still learning about our own planet.
"I'm a little REALLY biased" This calls to my nerdy AuDHD soul.
The cod icefish nests remind me of albatross nest distribution I saw when I was stationed on Midway Island. There are no predators on Midway so the nests are pretty evenly distributed on the ground with basically enough room for gooney birds to travel between the nests without disturbing them.
I used to watch Denali's videos on tiktok back when I still used it. They're so cool! :D
Love their Bathymetric/topographical tatt ❤
Dykanite! I'm so used to seeing their shorts, I love that they get to be on SciShow now
I got my Rocks Box, and it's BEAUTIFUL! My piece is dark pumice-like basalt studded with little olivine crystals. I love it!!!
One of the best parts of SciShow is the familiar faces/presenting styles/personalities. ... Oh, meeting new ones –enchanteé, Danali!
No one ever believes me when I give them that stat from the intro lmao
I'd really like to see what the actual gap on the mid Atlantic ocean ridge looks like where the ocean floor is forming
Great enthusiasm in general, but then a few times your eyes started to sparkle with what you were about to say... Awesome!! I'm seeing you get extra excited and thinking "Pay attention closely, this is gonna be extra good!!" Thank you!!
Oh my god it’s Denali!!! I’ve been following them for a few years on instagram and now I get to see them geek out on my favourite show!!
The brine pool section got me. Shrimp and hagfish just camping the edge of an underwater salt lake, waiting for crabs to wander in and get stunned. And a cold-water coral reef off Greenland that nobody found until 2012. Every one of these is a reminder that "unexplored" is still the default setting down there.
