Scientists have created a vaccine – in mice – that works against respiratory germs of all sorts, both viruses /and/ bacteria, and even /allergens/. It’s a /universal/ vaccine. And it could be a game-changer for pandemic preparedness.

i heard if you say "Tuberculosis" in front of a mirror/webcam, John Green pops up with TB facts
The inhalable angle is underrated: injected vaccines build strong systemic immunity but weak mucosal immunity — and the mucosa is where respiratory viruses actually land. A nasal vaccine generating IgA at the entry point could block transmission, not just disease. That's arguably the bigger prize than even the "universal" part.
"Universal vaccine": 😀 oh nice! "In mice": 😰 oh.
Of course it starts with Tuberculosis. Everything is TB, or so i'm told
3:40 I was kind of hoping to see a clip of John Green saying "did someone say tuberculosis?"
finally i'll be immune to the universe 😎
0:50 i genuinely wouldn't have minded if the video was 30 minutes long.
Science will set us free. If we let it.
As someone who's chronically ill, prone to respiratory infections, with asthma and dust mite allergy, YES, I'm first in line as well!
The ad read was much louder than the rest of the video; please consider reducing the volume to match the rest of the video :)
As someone with COPD (from 26 years of smoking cigarettes, and approaching 12/13/14 quitting anniversary), a C-19 virgin, asthma, and life long allergies, this information is seriously world changing!!
My son had a congenital immune deficiency. The doctors at Texas Children's said he made the cells but the B cells didn't mature correctly. This was in 1985 so they know so much now.
"For the sake of Elpis."
Now why would the universe need a vaccine-
0:57 bold of you to assume we wouldn’t happily watch a 30min video on this
Wonder if might be how memory works in the brain!
Another fantastic episode. Keep up the great work!
I’ll be behind you in line. Looking forward to the future
I read an article long ago about BCG reversing Type 1 diabetes, they never held a trial near me
If this could give me a break from my dust allergies I'd be so grateful.
