You know an animal's weird when you ask "is it a vertebrate or invertebrate?" and the "answer" is "yes!"
"It's a BARNACLE! Another accursed barnacle!"--a crazed Charles Darwin screaming from his grave.
If it ends up needing its own taxonomic grouping, will the science community accept the term monster as a legitimate category?
“Its friends call it the Tully Monster” actually its friends call it Greg. Its enemies call it the Tully Monster
Most Cambrian-looking thing to have never lived during the Cambrian.
I’ve seen this guy in Spore
Obviously a Rock/Water type fossil Pokemon
Obviously these are the larval form of the Elder Things.
It could be a dead lineage that doesn't have a good analog. So much of our history doesn't fossilize, so they could be the only known member of a branch of the tree of life. Could we tell if they were?
Probably a non-vertebrate chordata with no close relative. We have so many dead end lineage in the fossil record (although none are as strange as Tullymonster).
Of all of the strange creatures that have sprouted from the primordial soup, this is surely one of them
Any game developers need a monster? I love when there’s real science included in games. Ratchet and clank had quarks and zircons
It is very clear to me: it is THE MISSING LINK!!! But in reverse... its links to other animals are missing.
The name "sea elephant" raised my eyebrows, because it is exactly what we call elephant seals in Portuguese ("elefante marinho").
I'm pretty sure it was first described by H.P.Lovecraft.
actually blessed timing i just started working on a project about this guy 10 min ago!! lmao
I propose that he's just a quirky lil guy
0:11 "at first glance" i thought it was a Ween album
It's not a monster, it's somebody's baby.
